Conversations with those who transform recent Chilean and Colombian history into entertainment and collective memory.

News from Dec 11, 2025

In partnership with the FES Media team of the Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation in Colombia, GUMELAB presents the open-access book Televisión con memoria, which brings together 30 interviews with the creative and technical teams behind some of the most-watched and most-remembered historical fiction productions from Chile and Colombia.

Designed for fans of these television and streaming productions, as well creators and scholars, the book opens a window into the world of Latin American historical fiction, showing how television becomes a space for society to debate its recent past. It also reveals how the research was conducted, the questions that guided it, and the conversations that made the project possible, combining an academic perspective with the voices of those who work every day in the audiovisual industry.

Latin American television does more than entertain; it remembers too. Understanding how these narratives are created is, in turn, a way of understanding how we perceive—and how we remember—our own history.
