Policy Paper to Strengthen Chile’s Audiovisual Ecosystem: Focus on TV Fiction about Recent History

This document presents a policy paper aimed at strengthening Chile’s audiovisual ecosystem, with a particular focus on television fiction dealing with the country’s recent history. It is the result of a collaboration between the GUMELAB research project and the Faculty of Communication and Image at the University of Chile, within the framework of an agreement established with the National Television Council (Consejo Nacional de Televisión).

The recommendations gathered here are based on research findings that identified key challenges in the areas of production, funding, and distribution within the Chilean audiovisual landscape. Their goal is to support the transformation of this ecosystem into a more coordinated, inclusive, and innovative one—promoting responsible storytelling with high cultural, educational, and social value.
