Students of the Masters Interdisciplinary Latin American Studies (LAI, module Research Practice) have the opportunity to do research internships with us in the winter semester 2022/2023 and the summer semester 2023 within the GUMELAB project: Call for Application

Thanks to our Tandem Programme, we are able to support six tandem partnerships with scholarships for students from Latin America and Berlin. The GUMELAB project supports three students from Freie Universität Berlin. Each student will be paired with a Latin American student from our partner universities in Chile and Colombia. They will conduct research together and exchange ideas on their Master's theses. The international exchange enables the students to gain a broader perspective and interdisciplinary insights into their research topic. All funded students write an independent and self-contained master's thesis.

Three students from Freie Universität will travel to Colombia or Chile and one student from Universidad de Antioquia and two students from the Institute of Communication and Image at the University of Chile will travel to Berlin.

Further our pre-doctoral researchers Hannah Müssemann and Holle Meding work as in a Tandem with Consuelo Ábalos (University of Chile) and Juan Pablo Sánchez Sepúlveda (Pontifical Catholic University of Chile).

From October 2022 until June 2023 Alesson Rota is visiting the GUMELAB project as a guest researcher from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas.
