Policy Paper to Strengthen Chile’s Audiovisual Ecosystem: Focus on TV Fiction about Recent History
This document presents a policy paper aimed at strengthening Chile’s audiovisual ecosystem, with a particular focus on television fiction dealing with the country’s recent history. It is the result of a collaboration between the GUMELAB research project and the Faculty of Communication and Image at the University of Chile, within the framework of an agreement established with the National Television Council (Consejo Nacional de Televisión).
The recommendations gathered here are based on research findings that identified key challenges in the areas of production, funding, and distribution within the Chilean audiovisual landscape. Their goal is to support the transformation of this ecosystem into a more coordinated, inclusive, and innovative one—promoting responsible storytelling with high cultural, educational, and social value.
Strategic Policy Paper to Strengthen TV Fiction about Colombia’s Recent History
This document presents a set of policy recommendations aimed at key stakeholders in Colombia’s media ecosystem, with the goal of strengthening the production of television fiction about the country’s recent history. It is an initiative by GUMELAB, developed in collaboration with colleagues from Universidad de La Sabana, Universidad Externado de Colombia, Universidad del Rosario, and Cardiff University.
The recommendations are based on an analysis of the production processes, narrative content, and audience reception. Their purpose is to promote an ethical and socially engaged production that sensitively portrays the traumatic events of Colombia’s recent past and to influence decisions on its funding, representation, distribution, and preservation.
